From Your Director . . .

Today I am laying in the Chemo room at the Jackson Clinic having my last series of Chemo treatments. It has been a long six months, but it is finally over. I am, and you should be too, grateful and pleased that Jackson has such wonderful medical facilities. The West Tennessee Healthcare organization has been able to provide me with all my medical needs, whatever was thrown at me. I didn't have to get on the interstate one time, and it was wonderful to be able to "stay at home."

I want to publicly thank my Board of Directors for being so understanding during all this. If I came in late, left early, didn't go to evening events and meetings, or just couldn't come in the office at all, they supported me. I also want to thank my staff, Lori and June, for being there for me, and picking up the slack as needed. It sure helped to know the home front fires (office in this instance) were kept burning.

And last, but not least, I want to thank the community, the businesses, the property owners, and my great family of downtown acquaintances. The cards, notes, prayers, emails, telephone calls, and hugs were, and are always, appreciated. I promise in the future to be more prompt returning calls, attending meetings, and to spend more time with you discussing projects. It will all be uphill from here. I am certainly looking forward to it. I was truly blessed to be living in Jackson, Tennessee while going through this — what a wonderful, caring community, but of course you all know that, don't you?
