Issue 131 - November 7, 2007

From Your Director ...

This weekend will be a very special time in downtown Jackson as we welcome the 2007 West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation Charity Gala - "An Evening in the Imperial Palace." The gala will honor Howard Baker, former Ambassador to Japan and US Senator and will include a cocktail reception, silent auction, a seated dinner, awards presentation, and a variety of incredible entertainment.

The West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation Charity Gala is one of the largest fundraisers in the southeast region. Corporations based in several different states send representatives to attend in support and sponsorship of the event. In addition, the gala brings a diverse array of celebrities to Jackson and gives us an opportunity to showcase our community.

All proceeds from the gala are reinvested in the lives of people in our community via the Ayers Children's Medical Center and the Health and Healing Clinic. The Ayers Children's Medical Center offers a host of services including neonatal and pediatric medical care and early intervention services for children with special needs. The Health and Healing Clinic offers high quality, compassionate healthcare to the working uninsured of Madison County.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Tables of eight (8) are available for $2,400 - $10,000, reservations are limited. Please contact Chris Ramey at the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation at 731-660-8774 or Chris.Ramey@wth.org for more information.

Welcome to the future of Downtown Jackson ... one we can invent together!

Veterans Day

Please remember to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11, 1919, the first Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations …."
