Issue 124 - Sept 19, 2007

From Your Director ...

Downtown Jackson is excited to announce that free WiFi Internet access will soon be available in most outdoor, public spaces downtown.  Thanks to Aeneas Internet and Telephone, downtown will have yet another asset working to increase the economic vitality and attractiveness of downtown.

While this idea isn’t new, it is creative, exciting and forward-thinking. Whether visitors come downtown for lunch, a cup of coffee, to conduct business, or to do homework, they will now be able to access a free broadband Internet connection from their wireless device.  Aeneas Internet and Telephone took the initiative to implement this technology in order to attract excitement and innovation downtown, while fostering an environment where people want to live and interact.

Jackson is fortunate to be the home of Aeneas Internet and Telephone, recently named to Entrepreneur magazine’s annual “Hot 500” list of 2007’s fastest growing businesses in America.  To read more about this prestigious award, click here.

Welcome to the future of Downtown Jackson ... one we can invent together!

Madison County Imagination Library 2nd Year Celebration

The Madison County Imagination Library Program will celebrate its second year of instilling a love of books and reading – at the earliest possible age – in the children of Madison County.  Created in 1996 by Dolly Parton in her hometown of Sevierville, TN., the Imagination Library mails a new, age-appropriate, hardcover book every single month to registered children from birth to age five, at no cost to the family and regardless of income.  A blue-ribbon committee of childhood education experts selects the books for the Imagination Library, which includes such classics as The Little Engine That Could, The Snowy Day, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten.
