Issue 119 - Aug 15, 2007
From Your Director ...
With the temperatures soaring into the 100s, who would think that people would want to flock downtown? However, the International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame successfully hosted their annual Music Festival last weekend. Hundreds of people came from all over the world to listen to the music that was inspired by Carl Perkins, right here in Jackson, Tennessee.
The festival began with a kick-off from the Tennessee Commissioner of Tourism, Susan Whitaker. Attendees were also greeted by City Mayor Jerry Gist and Representatives Jimmy Eldridge and Steve McDaniel. However, the biggest welcome came from Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame founder, Henry Harrison who proudly revealed the new, outdoor stage and mural. The weekend was filled with music and dancing regardless of the temperatures. A big thank you to all the volunteers and the Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame for helping downtown Jackson shine!
Welcome to the future of Downtown Jackson ... one we can invent together!
