It’s the first week of March and that can only mean one thing, First Friday Forum is this Friday, March 5, 2010! We are excited about having Area Relief Ministries, American Red Cross, RIFA, and West TN Legal Services be a part of a panel discussion at this month’s First Friday Forum.
Last night I had the privilege of listening to legendary NFL coach Don Shula at the 18th Annual Eagle Club Dinner in the Carl Perkins Civic Center. I like football, but I never knew much about the Miami Dolphins except they had Don Shula and Dan Marino.
Jackson knows how to celebrate Mardi Gras! Thanks to News/talk 101.5FM for organizing their 10th Annual Mardi Gras Parade. Thanks to our downtown businesses who participated and stayed open late to serve the downtown crowd. There were 76 entries in this years’ parade. Thanks to all of those who came from other counties and towns to help Jackson make this the best Mardi Gras parade yet!
Here is my last newsletter before Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras! What an exciting time for Downtown Jackson! There are so many things happening downtown, that I am just going to bullet point for you.

It has been said time flies when you are staying busy and having fun. I believe that statement is true now more than ever before. We have been busy, not just because of all the events that are happening, but helping local businesses remain steady during these crazy economic times, and looking ahead to future investment.
Martin Luther King , Jr. spoke of non-violence, peace and community. This week, Americans across the country celebrated the life of Dr. King. Jackson also had several events on Monday, including a march from Lane College through the streets of downtown Jackson.
It’s that time again, MARDI GRAS! JDDC is proud to partner with WNWS 101.5 talk radio for its annual Mardi Gras Parade. The celebration begins on Monday, February 15th at the Downtown Tavern with the crowning of the 2010 King and Queen. On Fat Tuesday, February 16th, the festivities continue throughout the day leading up to the Mardi Gras Parade at 5pm.
