Dr. David Evans JACKSON, TENNESSEE — Join Jackson Downtown Development Corporation
for great music and presentation of the blues at First Friday Forum on
May 7, 2010. Dr. David Evans will be presenting blues history along with
live music!
As a professor and director of the Ethnomusicology Regional Studies doctoral
program of the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, Dr. David Evans is a
specialist in American folk and popular music, particularly blues, spirituals,
gospel, and African-American folk music. He has also written many articles
in academic journals, chapters in books, reviews, and dictionary and encyclopedia
entries. Dr. David Evans has Produced over 30 albums and CDs and
has been awarded a Grammy award for “Best Album Notes.” He performs
blues music and has had many concert appearances as a soloist with a guitar.
